In her post, Kareena mentioned ‘The First Wives Club’ as one of her top picks. The 1996 comedy-drama, directed by Hugh Wilson, was based on Olivia Goldsmith’s 1992 novel of the same name. In the film, Keaton played Annie MacDuggan, an anxious and insecure housewife who joins forces with two other women played by Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn to take revenge on their ex-husbands. Kareena called it one of Keaton’s most relatable and funny roles.
Another movie that made it to the list of Kareena Kapoor was ‘Marvin’s Room’, in which Diane Keaton starred alongside Meryl Streep and Leonardo DiCaprio. Released in 1996, the film tells the story of two estranged sisters who reunite after one of them is diagnosed with a serious illness. Keaton played Bessie, a kind-hearted woman who dedicates her life to caring for her ailing father. The role earned her an Academy Award nomination.
Kareena also highlighted the timeless classic ‘Annie Hall’, one of Keaton’s most celebrated works. In the 1977 romantic comedy directed by Woody Allen, Keaton played the free-spirited title character, opposite Allen himself. The film, which explores the ups and downs of love and relationships, won four Oscars including Best Picture and Best Actress for Keaton.
Kareena wrote that ‘Annie Hall’ remains “everlasting cinema” that continues to inspire generations of actors and storytellers.
The last film Kareena included in her tribute was the 2003 romantic comedy ‘Something’s Gotta Give’. In it, Keaton starred as Erica Barry, a successful and independent playwright who unexpectedly falls for a much older man, played by Jack Nicholson. The film showcased Keaton’s effortless charm and comedic timing, earning her yet another Oscar nomination.
PEOPLE magazine confirmed the news of Diane Keaton’s passing. According to reports, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to an emergency call from Keaton’s home and rushed her to a nearby hospital.
Though the exact cause of death has not been revealed, sources close to the actress said her health had been declining for some time.
